Parkwood Expansion

Independent Living - Affordable Housing Project

Our vibrant campus has been purposefully designed to nurture a sense of community where all are welcome. Our amenities and programs are intended to support the whole person – physical, social and spiritual – across a continuum of care, from fully independent to long-term care.

In 2021, we added a new Home and Community Care program on campus to support aging in place. Residents and community members also have access to a beautiful, well-equipped Health and Wellness Centre with a warm water therapy pool and fitness centre. Retiring with dignity and independence can be fully realized at Parkwood.

It is truly a beautiful campus and welcoming community. And now, we are ready to make it even better by offering an affordable housing option for independent older adults.

Our vision is to offer 30% of a new six-storey, 90-unit building as affordable housing.

This housing solution relieves poverty, lessens the chronic shortage of senior-friendly affordable housing, provides equitable access to a beautiful campus and congregate living to older adults with many background and a range of financial means – modest, middle and comfortable.

Everyone has a Seat at the Table

Our values of kindness, faith, truth, excellence and accountability call us to help relieve poverty.

We can best do this by responding to the chronic shortage of affordable housing for older adults of modest and middle incomes in Waterloo Region.

When considering this expansion, we sought a project that would continue to align with our values and offer older adults of modest to middle means a retirement opportunity they could not otherwise afford.
